The Christian Aid group in Thames Ditton is delighted to have arranged an evening with charismatic young cricketer Henry Olonga. Now living in the UK after receiving death threats because of his criticisms of the Mugabe regime, Mr Olonga is developing his singing career, and will treat the audience at Vera Fletcher Hall to some of his new songs.

An evening with cricketer Henry Olonga and Christian Aid’s VB Ndlovu Friday 23 March, 7.30pm, Vera Fletcher Hall, Embercourt Road, Thames Ditton. Tickets £5, including light refreshments. To book, call 020 7654 5330. Henry will be in conversation with Mr VB Ndlovu (known as ‘VB’) from a Christian Aid partner organisation in Zimbabwe, discussing the controversial decisions that drove this promising young star of international cricket into exile.

VB is visiting the diocese in mid March to talk about his work with farmers in Zimbabwe. The Christian Aid funded project is developing agricultural strategies that meet the food needs of poor farmers in environmentally sound ways. The techniques have dramatically improved crops in some of the hottest, driest, most drought-prone areas of the country. Perhaps the miraculous results are why some people refer to this as “farming God’s way”.
